Our Artzee Kids Art program has been developed to promote skill development whilst exploring Art.

It can be used by individual children, with each experience chosen based on the child's interests.

The creative guides bring groups together to develop a year of Art experiences.

The guides offer flexibility ablity and allow you to shape your program to meet the interest and skills of your child or students.

We offer exposure to contemporary artists who are practicing their craft in their way. We want to show children what artist do.

We draw from the great country on which we live, our diversity of cultures and the stories and wisdom of our First Nations People.

At Artzee Kids HQ, we work from the premise that the child is the Artist and the classroom is their studio. Our creative guides are developed to enhance growth through the practicing of artistic mind sets to develop creative thinking skills.

To put it simply, we want children to learn to learn. To take control of their artistic journey and through repetition and by doing, practice skills like:

Experimenting through the playing with materials and techniques to develop an understanding of the properties of a material.

To take an idea and bring it to fruition - to persevere when things aren't smooth, to analyse to reflect the problem and to find solutions. To test and revise.

To understand themselves by studying other artists, by reflecting on art, by building their story.

How to use this Guide:

Each creative guide can be sorted by both the studio category as well as the principle of art being explored or the skill being practiced.

Each guide is presented as a slide show which can be opened on a device or smartboard. You can use this to work through with your child or student or set the task for individual use.

Which Creative guides you explore will be based on the interests of your child or students. If you are setting up an open choice based classroom, the Creative guides can act as a skill builder or to introduce the style of an artist.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are the Creative Guides not sorted by age?

Children work at the level that they are at, and age can be a guide but sorting by age can also be restrictive.

With the guidance of an adult or older child, children can work beyond their known capabilities.

This works the other way as well, where age can restrict a child from trying an experience simply because they feel it may be babyish.

By not adding an age, we are saying, "if this interests you, then try it. Add to it, make it yours."

Why are your Creative Guides slideshows and not video?

At times video is the most appropriate way to get across the method. In these situations, we will add video, in addition to the Creative Guide slideshows.

We prefer slideshows over video as children can stop and discuss easily at any point. The information imparted is in small chunks which stops the text from overwhelming children. It also provides the opportunity for children to work out some aspects rather than being told or shown what to do.

On a practical level, our surveys indicate that slideshows and printable guides work best for teachers and home school educators.

Are your photos real art?

We try to keep our images realistic. You won't find many insta setups in our images. We work from real life, real examples of children's work. we want children to feel that they can do it.

What is Funart?

Funart is both a form of art and a state of mind. Funart refers to the type of Art being practiced which may not fall under traditional forms of art .

As a mind set it is about engaging children at their level, in ways that capture their interest. Funart takes into account the blossoming and development of creativity. Our popular Artzee Ducks may never appear in a gallery but when the artist plans and creates, they are using the same principles used by gallery worthy art. They are having fun, they are developing skills and they are gaining confidence. What more could we ask for.

What curriculum is this program aligned to?

Our Artzee Kids Creative Arts program is aligned to the Australian Visual Arts curriculum. Where we are able, we have indicated how to adjust to meet specific state requirements.

How do you assess a child's Art development?

Each Creative Guide is built to be just that, a guide. We encourage children to practice behaviors rather than label art as good. This takes away from the child who is gaining skills but may not compare against another child. If you need to assess a child's art development, we suggest a matrix of requirements based on endeavor or specific objectives. The development of " I can do" statements for each artwork allow the child to self-reflect on their own practices.

I haven't got a creative bone in my body!

Think back to when you were a child. Did you draw? Did you create? Did you dance, play music, make up songs, make up games or tell stories?

Chances are your creativity has been worn down with the practicalities of being an adult. The good thing is, there are so many ways to be creative, it's about finding your area that speaks to you.

Our Creative Guides can help you. With Art there is no right way, there are suggestions and guides but in the end,

When you talk about Art, do you mean creativity?

The connection between art and creativity has long been debated. At Artzee Kids we define creativity as a way of thinking. We work at developing creative thinking skills. Art is one of the outcomes of the use of that creativity. It's not the only way but it's a fun way to explore and develop creative skills.

When it comes down to it, creativity is a way of being, a way of thinking, a way of living.

We can teach all the children the same thing at the same time so we can be sure that they learn what we want them to learn or we can place the choice in the hands of the child and watch the learning unfold.

Either way, we may arrive at the same point,

One way will have more impact and growth because it's internally driven.

One way will engage more children through their interests.
